Default 2007 RX350 Trade Value...Am I getting a fair price?

Hi!

I'm about to trade for a MB or BMW and just having second thoughts since I'm switching to a smaller sport sedan.

KBB lists my 2007 RX350 excellent around 29,000~30,000 but Mercedes is offering $33,000 on the trade. The KBB trading value is way way less than I thought...(mine has less than 13,000 miles).

Should I jump on it...or can I do better selling it privately...with the trade I'm getting about $35,000 considering the sales tax benefit.

If Mercedes is offering you 33K, that means they can make a couple thousand bucks on it, why can't you? I would try selling it myself. It's never too late to bend over and take one from Mercedes.

Is there a carmax in your area? I normally use them to gauge the current trade in value for my area. Lucky you, CA doesn't have the tax credit for trade ins. IMO, due to the most recent incentives on the RXs, MB is giving you a good price on your trade.

Hard to answer the question with the info you gave. Depends on what kind of deal you are getting on the new car. I have seen dealers offer very generous trade-in value on deals where they are making $$$ on the new car. If you are happy with the negotiated price of the new car, then I would say that is a very fair trade-in value considering that I negotiated a new, loaded 2008 for $38.5K a few months back.

Sounds like not a bad offer, I bought a 2009 last night, but had a loaded 2008 down to 40k (I need jimkerry to help me negotiate further by the looks of it!)
