Question Liquid graphite wheels?

Ok, I got the liquid graphite wheels. They looked good and the name sounded cool, but what does it all mean? What is liquid graphite?

Liquid graphite is a lubricant used in fine items like expensive guns, clocks, and such. My father used it in Viet Nam on his .45.

Google is a great search tool.

they are darker than the regular rims. if you look at a regular RX rim, they are much whiter. By giving this treatment, it is sparkly in the light, and just looks better.

Well, you did ask "What is liquid graphite?" and I answered your question exactly as asked! Now, did you mean something else?

I like the color, but I guess I was wandering how the color was applied,i.e. powder coat or paint or something else. Liquid graphite seemed to suggest something else.

Seriously, the paint process should be the same as other painted rims. Definitely mettalics are used for the Liquid Graphite rims.

I dont think its a painting process. The GX470 use to have graphite color painted rims. On the 08 GX, they changed to Liquid Graphite rims. It looks different. Either its a electroplating process like chrome or its the actually color of the metal used.

The Graphite wheels must be something put on the wheels because they will chip...I had a flat fixed at lexus and got 2 chip marks in the process..They said evidently the protective sockets used during rotations were not used..So be careful they will scratch .
