Default Roof Rack for a 2004 RX - 330

I have a 2004 RX-330 with no roof rack and I need one to carry stuff. I have researched the 2004 catalog and all the rack parts are sold separately for about $1,200!!! I have seen 2003 RX-300 roof racks, at Lexus dealers, advertised for about $200. Does anyone know if a 2003 RX 300 roof rack fits a 2004 RX-330 roof?

Thanks for any help.

p.s. My roof does not have a sun/moon roof.

Wow, we have found a unit with no sunroof and no roof racks! We thought that a unit like this did not exist. Sorry, I am just surprised. Did you try to getb a quote from our approved vendors? Sewell and Carsons?

You might be better off with aftermarket, like Yakima or Thule. Those typically hold more weight more securely and are not permanent. I've removed the cross bars for mine and others here have completely removed the entire rack. The manual tells you how much (little) you can actually carry up there with the factory unit.

You may also not be able to mount a factory rack anyway. Mounting hardware may not have been embedded in the roof structure if the rack was not specified.

Aftermarket is the way to go, and the OEM is mostly for cosmetic than functional anyway.

Default Still Looking

Thanks people. I checked the Yakima and Thule catalogs and they do not carry a vehicle-specific rack for the RX330.

Maybe I will just go to a scrapyard and buy it from a crashed RX 330. Those of you who have removed their racks...is it screwed in with sheet metal screws?

It is bolted in. The RX should have the mounting hardware already in the roof channel. You would pull up the rubber from the channel, probably pull off some sort of cap covering the 2 bolt holes on each corner, and that is where the roof rack feet bolt into. You would also need new rubber channel inserts or cut your original ones to accomodate the space needed for the roof rack feet.
