Anyone have any experience with these tires on the RX330? They're significantly cheaper ($102 from TireRack) than the Michelins or Goodyears. I've got Kumho KH16's on my LS430 and they're great.

I posted a similar question in CL -tire forum .. [ my question was about Goodyear assurance comorTread instead of Kumho].

This is what I found out ..

Tires are tires and as long as you get the right rim-size and width, they will work and exhibit their strong and weak points.

For SUV (we are not talking off-raading here), the sidewall ridigity will be important as the center of gravity is higher as compared to sedans.

ps: I am looking for replacing the Michellen (sp?) M/S which are bit noisy for my taste.

Yah, I was looking into these Kumho tires as well... Wonder how they would handle in snow as well? Anyone got any reviews?

By the way, KUMHO makes a few different versions of the Road Venture tire, the one being discussed here is the Road Venture APT (KL51)...

Yeah they're the OEM tyres (17 inch) here in Australia.

At $50 more per tire for the Alenzas, I'd still like to see if the Kumho's are up to par, its worth saving $200. Its a shame nobody seems to have any experience with them.

This is for my friends ride. I was wondering if there were alternate tire sizes for this 2004 rx330. Thought the oem size was 235 55 18.

to get alternate sizes on my corvette and daughters galant w/18 wheels to save money and/or open up a few more options as far as mfgs. I got 4 falken 451s for $680 shipped for the vette with road hazard. Got her some nankook 18s for $57 a tire brand new wholesale cash out the door local.
I think he could go to a narrower tire for the type of Florida commuting he does.

Kumho's have gotten good reviews. I guess none of the members have tried them. I will go to a 255-55-18 when it is time for me. No rubbing, I heard. It increases the diameter by 0.9 inch.

That is also at the 3% difference from the oem size. It is not recommended from the link I posted above. It will throw your speedometer off by 1.8 mph at 60. Unless that size is alot less expensive, I wouldnt go with that size.

Will it add miles or lessen miles......let's see some brain action......you infer that I will be adding miles to the car (compared to standard).

It'll be the other way around - going up in diameter is always to your benefit in that regard. Actual speed/miles will be higher than the figures displayed on your cluster. The downside - you won't win an argument with the cop when you say you were only going 70.

My experience with Kumho tires is mixed. Overall, they're certainly not bad. And more and more vehicles are running them OEM which says something. Personally, I find that the tread compound hardens too quickly as it wears down, dramatically changing the noise level, ride quality, and most important...handling characteristics. Wet traction in particular seems to be effected the most.

This is a subjective thing, but for my money (even at a higher cost) there are too many great tires out there...Toyo/Nitto, Continental, Yokohama, Falken...just to name some. And if you're interested in value-priced tires I certainly recommend General and Cooper. Another take, and I know this is over-used, but it applies....you spent good money on an awfully nice vehicle. Why pinch pennies on tires?
