I am new to this forum. I am about to negotiate a preown 2004 RX330 that has 49500km. Does anyone know the service schedule for a RX330? I know most vehicles usually have a major service around this mileage. I want to make sure I build it into the negotiation price. I couldn't find any owner's manual from the internet. Please help...thanks.

PLEASE spend time here poking around to verify my statement. Also, whatever you do negotiate that this vehicle be certified if you are buying from a Lexus dealer. If it can't be or they won't I would run fast and far away. Also, do pricing research at Edmunds etc however the final method I use for ascertaining market value is by going to a major city's newspaper and see what is being asked there for a vehicle with similar age, mileage and features. If I'm not mistaken, for RX 330 in US, 50k service is just your typical oil change/rotate tires and some inspection. Do some searching here before you buy your RX. RX330 is far from perfect so you'll find plenty of unhappy buyers. I personally like the car, and my experience has been pleasant so far. To increase the odds in your favor, make sure you buy the car certified from Lexus dealers. It'll be a little pricier, but you're provided with extra protection. Good Luck!!

Lexus321, 49500 km is approx 30,000 miles. there is a pretty significant service required at every 30,000 mile interval. 15,000 mi intervals are considered intermediate, and the 5,000 mi's in between are just oil change and rotations.

so you are right - if you are getting one with 49,500km, make sure to find out whether or not the service was completed. i think mine cost about $400 or something back then. i can't remember the exact $.

Finally made my purchase from a Lexus dealership and have just picked up the vehicle. It's a 2004 Ultra Premium RX330 with 49500km. I managed to negotiate a deal with the dealership to have it Lexus certified(at first, I only wanted the safety certification so to keep the cost low), and I also purchased a 2 years extended warranty(until summer 2009) for $2375 cdn. The vehicle drives very nicely, but was a bit disappointed with the interior detailing job(not so clean). I had expected the Lexus dealership to do a better job than that.

Do you think the Lexus certification, and the extended warranty is neccessary? I had never owned a Lexus before, so I don't know what could break after the 4 year normal warranty period. I figure it give me a peace of mind.

The extended warranty was pure profit for the dealer.

The service required was a complete fluid change, including brake fluid, transmission fluid, engine oil, coolant and if AWD rear differential and transfer case gear oil. The fluids should look new in the reservoirs
