RX 350 seatbelt alarm
The new RX 350's now have an annoying seatbelt alarm, in addition to the indicator light on the dashboard. Is there any way to disable this "feature"? One of the service consultants at my dealership says flat-out NO. It doesn't make any sense when you stop your car at the mailbox and the alarm goes off.

I noticed this on many of the newer (06+) makes and models, not just Lexus. I doubt they'll disable freely considering potential liability issues.
I'm sure somebody will come up with a hack to fix

xenon makes a good point. Like the warning screen on the nav, the RSES interlock that prevents DVDs from showing on the Nav screen underway, and the interlock that prevents the power liftgate from opening without the gear selector in Park, this is a safety/liability issue. Asking a tech to disable a safety feature is likely to cause him to vapor lock.

In the old days there used to be a plug connection under the seat of the car that would trigger the warning buzzer. It got unplugged all the time. All you need to do for a little self-help is find the wire or the buzzer and get busy with your clippers.

there used to be a hack available on 06 models which no longer works on 07. however, the 07 ES350 shows the disabling of seat belt chime in the "customized settings" page in the manual which you can opt for during the LPS. check your manual to see if it's the same as the ES350. if it is, you can show your service advisor and have them disable it.

It definitely works on the 07 RX350. In fact, it's in the owner's manual. I did it 18 months ago (a week after buying it). Just be aware that there are two separate procedures, one for the driver's seat, one for the passenger's.

How long do you have to hold the "the ODO/TRIP switch until the odometer displays "ODO"?

Seat belt alarm turn-on and turn-off process
[QUOTE=chiefvh;2152613]seatbelt chime disable url:

Folks, the above URL from this thread of comments on the subject, is indeed the process for turning on and off the seat belt alarm on a Lexus RX350 and worked on my 2009 model.
I would caution that using your seat belt is in your best interest but there may be situations when having the option works for those of you that don't need the reminder. Please keep that in mind. Some of you that have it turned off can actually turn it on with this process.
