Default Navi Password?

Is it possible to password-protect the "personal addresses" (i.e. memory points) of the Navi? Specifically, can I make it so that I have to enter a code before the Navi will let me set "Home" as my destination? From what I've found in the manual, it looks like you can only password-protect your phone book.

Why do Lexus owners ask impossible questions?

32kcolors,

I see you haven't been on the forum long. If you had, you'd know that we try to sponsor a sense of community here and help each other out.

If you can't be productive with your responses to questions like this, I suggest you not respond at all.

In reference to the Home location in your NAV system....

My salesperson suggested we may not want to enter our home address, just in case someone grabs the keys and the car and then has your home address to visit next.

I thought about it a little, and then realized my car registration is right in the glove compartment and that has my home address on it. Hiding it from the NAV doesn't really solve that potential issue.

It was a serious question! I just don't understand what makes people think of impossible things when it's not in the manual. It's not like the NAV override.

That's a really good point! I used to always keep my registration & insurance in my wallet with my license, but that was before this whole getting-married-&-having-2-cars business. I guess it is kind of a moot point, then. Thanks for the constructive response!

Yes, I figured that out, and entered my home address anyway.

Some cars let you do it. My other car (Acura TL) lets you put a password on all personal addresses, including home. It also lets you switch the keyboard layout to QWERTY like a regular keyboard (question from another user in a different thread). Both of these are things that are far from "impossible" to do in other cars, and in fact may be what some drivers are used to, so it's not really a stretch for them to wonder if they can do them on a Lexus as well.

Changing the keyboard to QWERTY is right there in the manual. Sorry I wasn't more constructive.
