Default Personal Preferences

Upon picking up my new RX330 last month, the dealer mentioned that they will set selected "personal preferences" one time only, within the first 12 months, as a freebie. I've not found any reference to "personal preferences" in the 600 or so pages of user manuals, (aside from a statement that they will set them) but I know that, for instance, one of them is the whether the doors lock upon shifting out of park, and unlock upon shifting into park. A behavior that irritates me every time I back out of the garage and wait for my kid to jump in. He's locked out until I shift back into park. The dealer can change this, and possibly other functions.

Any one have a list of the other features which can be "personalized"???

your dealer has a separate page dedicated to the personal functions, about twenty or so items that you fill out and hand in when they reset the personal settings, that way when they reset everything the technician has your info infront of him. this form was handed to me by the salesman at the time i picked up my vehicle. its amazing to me that many dealers are getting so lazy. it is online, however i would let lexus corporate know what kind of service you are getting from your dealer.

you have any kind of a decent Lexus dealer he should do the seetings anytime and more than once if you really find something you would like to change!! As long as you dont go in there every week with a change. Most dealers will hook you up whenever you want--at least mine does

I think that they don't want to do it repeatedly just for your amusement, but I have seen them do it several times on my SC and my RX. The guy plugs in a hand held computer box to some connection under the dash and calls up the various settings on his litle screen.

The whole thing takes about 2 minutes to change a setting. I have never asked for this just by itself, but when I have a car in for some real service, if I ask nicely they have always done it for me, no charge, no questions asked.

I like to have all doors unlock with one push of the remote button, and have all doors unlock when I shift into park. I don't mind the doors locking when I shift out of park, and if I still had little kids in the family, I think I would want that feature so I would know that all the doors are locked when the car is underway, which is probably why that is the standard setting.

by the way, many of the door lock functions you can set yourself with some sequences of button pushing inside the car. so if you are itching to change the factory settings before your next scheduled maintenance, you can give those a shot.

I posted the instructions for setting the door lock behavior in another thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=203010

The "personal preferences" should be listed in one place in the manual, but they are not.

Instead, there are simply notes that the function or feature described can be changed by the dealer upon request, or words to that effect. So to compile the list from the manual you would have to page through the whole thing and make you own list, and even then you would not have a list of the options that can be set, only that certain changes can be made.

This is not good; but dealers do have a printed page with the options for you to pick from. I even got that list when I bought a used RX, and the dealer gladly set anything I wanted.

all the models have the LPS form for you to select your preferences.

the door lock functions between the 330/400h should be the same. i set my door locks to lock at 12mph and unlock at 'P'. they are fairly easy to set on your own, shouldn't take more than 5 minutes.

here's a link to another thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...ight=door+lock

The lists of Lexus Personalized Settings I've seen are incomplete comapred to the list in the Service Manual. Before the LPS name came out around 2004, these settings were called Customizable Body Electronics Settings, or C-BEST settings. (Toyota-branded products still use the "C-BEST" name.) Search the forum for C-BEST, and you'll find even more extensive lists of what the dealer can change.
