Default Humming from ac line

I have a 2004 rx330. Just brought it in for service. Has 18k. There is a humming/vibration noise when the AC is on at 800-1200 rpm. The dealer said it was due to a AC line that is abutting the frame. They insulated the line, the humming is less, but is still noticeable. I also was driving a new 2005 loaner RX, it exhibited the same symptoms.

Is there anyone else with this problem?

Thanks,

John

Hi
I had the same problem on my 04 RX but the TSB for the AC cooler line took care of it.
If you're still not satisfied I would take it back and go for a test drive with the service tech and show him excactly what you're talking about.

Good luck.

what TSB are you referring to? do you have the info and #?

i don't think i have the humming/vibration, but my AC fan from above the nav screen chirps like mad on the low setting. it's really annoying, almost like the fan motor needs so squeak oil. but of course after the car has been sitting for a while at the dealer waiting to be checked in for service, it doesn't do it, so i get the wonderful "could not duplicate".

Pexcel if the TSB work didn't fix your problem it could be the compressor itself .Check this post.

Take it back to the dealer and complain until they fix it.

BTW LEXUSLOVER I love your taste in cars. This is my wife's second RX .MY next car is a GS460 when they come out.

cantsleep, thanks for the info and links. i didn't know there were so many TSBs out there. i've only requested about 5 or 6 since i got the car in March 03. my RX is from the first batch, and luckily i have avoided most of the rattles and other more egregious problems. (knock on wood)

i might have a couple other things looked at though - i am at the 46k mark now and rapidly approaching the end of warranty, so i have to make sure any other problems get fixed. the issue is duplicating the situations, which i have not been able to do for a couple of things.

p.s. funny you mention the cars - we traded in an 01 RX for this one, and we plan on getting the GS460 once the lease is up on the 430 (we are on GS #3 already )
