I have a 2004 RX-330. I would like to buy an updated software disc. Does anyone know where I may be able to buy this from any other source other than the dealers? I don't know what brand/manufacturer of the GPS is installed in the car.

You need to buy the Lexus disc. Even if the manufacturer (Denso, I believe) made discs, they wouldn't work - Lexus licenses the map data directly. Denso provides the system software.

It's been posted that you can buy them on eBay. You can also try some of the online dealers, like http://www.irontoad.com or the ClubLexus sponsors. Get quotes from them - they'll beat your local Lexus dealer without a doubt.

Also note that it's been posted that there are two kinds of discs - "original" ones that came with the car, and "updates". Someone else might be able to elaborate on the technical differences, but I think you need to buy an "update". Many people put their old "original" discs on eBay after they buy an update, but you probably don't want that. Buyer beware.

Can anyone tell me how to determine if the navigation software has already been updated? My wife recently purchased a Lexus Certified 2002 RX300. She is about to go on a cross country trip. I would like to determine if the nav system has the most recent update before she leaves.
