RX 400 h mieage compared to Toyota Huighlander Hybrid
The Lexus RX 400 hybrid gets 22 m.p.g. overall, while the Toyota gets 28 m.p.g. We have both vehicles in the family, and the driving patterns are similar.Bith have the same motor. Any comments?

They always said the Toyota Highlander would be tuned more for efficiency and less for performance. Vice Versa for the Lexus. But still so, with the 400h I get 26+mpg which seems close to your 28.
Are you driving both vehicles under the same conditions?

While I haven't driven the Highlander, I've had my 400H for ~2000 miles.
I've never gotten better than 22mpg. ..I'm not complaining though, the mileage is still better than
the V8 Toyota Landcruiser I traded in. However for a "luxury suv", IMHO, the 400H doesn't even come close to the Landcruisers level of luxury......

Compare RX400h with Highlander Hybrid AWD, the drivetrains are about the same. So it's other factors that are causing the difference in mpg.
1, I believe the RX is heavier than the Highlander, for the additional luxury amenities and also more sound-proofing materials
2, Tire size, RX is running 235 width tires, while Highlander is running 225. I forgot the model that Highlander is running on but the tires are designed leaning toward comfort and less grip compares to the RX's
These are two of the reasons Highlander get a slight advantage on fuel economy.
