Question Extended Warranty

I just purchased a 2005 RX 330 and am now trying to decide whether or not to buy the Extended Warranty. The dealer is offering me the 7-Year, 100K Extended Warranty for $1950. I would welcome any comments as to 1) advisability of purchasing the Extended Warranty, and 2) whether the quoted price is an honest offer.

Thanks in advance.

I too have the same offer, But it got a 4 year default warranty and it's not FORD, RX330 is one of the best reliable SUV in market. Any way I am not going to buy that for the time being.

If you buy, make sure you are gonna keep that for 7 years (of course its transferable)

Regards
Sam

Yes, make sure you'll have the car for 7 years / 100K miles. Although it's transferrable, it really won't do anything for your trade-in value.

I typically keep my cars longer than 7 years, so that's not a concern. The question I'm wrestling with is whether I really need it given Lexus' quality. I'm hoping that other owners will offer some insights and recommendations into repair history and warranty experience with and without the Extended Warranty. I have until August 30th to decide whether I want to purchase it.

i think if you take good care of your RX and take it for regular 5k service (i.e., don't skimp on the recommended stuff), you should be ok.

how many miles do you drive annually?

With the new RX330 I think I wold get it. I wish I got one for my 04. Not that anything is going wrong now, but there have already been a lot of stuff replaced under regular warranty and a lot of TSIBs already. Thing's that I suspect might need attention in the later years are the engine/trans, and power rear hatch. O2 sensors might need replacement later on around 100K miles. Given past Lexus cars, I would also bet many bushings like suspension and engine/trans mounts will also need replaceing somewhere after 60K miles.

Lexuslover,

I expect I'll be driving this car approximately 11-12K miles per year.
