New RX and cargo net.
Well I finally got my RX330, I waited for almost 3 months to have it made in Japan. I think, and so do most people that it will be worth the wait. My question is has anyone had the cargo net installed in their RX. The dealer told me they would have to drill some holes to install it, and that didn't really thrill me too much. I am not sure if it is really worth it or not. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Congratulations on the new RX! You're going to love it!!
A cargo net is helpful for keeping objects placed in the back from sliding all the way to the seatbacks under braking, or when the cargo area is full, from tumbling out when the liftgate is opened. The holes are drilled to accept a couple of small buttons to which the net is secured. I'm on my second RX too, and although I have not installed a net, I've considered it several times. Maybe on the next one . . .

dougt......Congrats! You gonna love the ride........
I installed the net myself and yes....you do need to drill two holes. One on each end. At first, I thought about it to.....hmm....drilling a hole. But, then....it wasn't to painful. It looks awesome!
You can do it yourself. Very easy to install. Took me about less than 30min. I'm also installing the mudguards. Just finished doing the front. Looks hell of sporty.

I also installed my cargo net. Toyota makes it really easy with the instructions provided (I guess they know some mechanics are not too bright). Instructions are concise with two drill templates that you cut out, locate based on the access holes, and then tape to the inside plastic to exactly locate the hole positions. No room for error!

I am bringing back this post back to life ! I just bought a used cargo net (without the drill template) with two hooks.
I kinda have an idea what the holes to be like (shape like old key hole?) but I want to make sure what factory recommended locations/shape are before drilling ... could someone post a picture of their installed cargo net/hooks/ holes/ template ? Many thanks.

The old RX's had all the hardware and they just put the net in. The 2006 does need holes drilled. I had mine installed a week after I bought the car because I can't do without one. However, my dealer provided it, and installed it for free on all of my cars.

Actually dont need the picture but which part should I drill the hole into ?
1) the hard grey plastic piece closer to the edge
2) top right next to the rectangular piece that access to the light assembly ?

Hey daryll40 .. I did the install.
1) take off the rectangular covers (for access to the light assembly)
2) drill hole (size of the anchor screw) at the lining between the cover hole and the dark grey hard plastic at the edge. There's a space for around 1" for you to fit the anchor.
3) put the screw through the lining from the other side ... make sure you don't drop it behind the lining.
4) tighten the anchor and tie the net ! woohoo. Very easy.

Thanks for the encouragement. Where do I get this kit, by the way? Must I pay dealer juice or is there a cheaper aftermarket or used on Ebay? I'd still love to see a photo of the whole set up. Thanks!
