Question Rear Hatch Noise

Has anyone noticed a creaking from the rear hatch door? We have the continuous curved curbs instead of driveway cuts and whenever I go up or down my driveway over this curb I get a rattle/creak as the hatch sounds like it shifts slighlty. It appears to close tight, the motorized latch sucks it in, though I have what I consider excess wind noise when driving on the highway. All gaskets are there and look like they compress. Any suggestions?

I heard there was a TSB BO010-03 that might cover this, but don't have a copy. Anyone have a copy they could forward to me?

I have a 2004 RX-330, TMMC manufactured

A blurb about that TSIB is in this thread:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...light=BO010-03

It's for the rear spoiler rubbing against the roof when the door is opened or closed.

Damn, back in 2003 in May for our 1K service I told the dealer about this issue with the hatch spoiler rubbing against the roof body. They told me they would look into it but I was the only one to complain. I never heard a word about it again.2 Years later most of the black paint on the spoiler where it makes contact has rubbed away.

Well checked that thread and that TSB only applies to Japan built RX-330's. Plus it refers to interference when the hatch is opened or closed which is not the case for me. In fact, I cannot see any rub marks. I have "creaking" when driving over uneven pavement such as going up a driveway from the street. Again it sounds like the rear hatch is shifting in the opening. I realize it is attached rather poorly based on the way the side doors align/attach - there are no guides. But the latch does grab it and pull it in when closed and it aligns perfectly with the body when closed.

In your case, I have not experienced that particular problem. Try inspecting all the panels in the hatch area to see if they are all aligned properly. I know I had to reinstall some of my panels after Lexus installed it improperly after performing the hatch ECU TSIB.

Also, I did notice that 2 of the 4 plastic access hole covers in the hatch door had popped out and would not stay in. I've since replaced them with rubber body plugs 90950-01871 (Toyota number) that are used in my wife's RAV-4. They fit better and don't pop out allowing water, etc into the interior of the hatch door. Luckily Toyota/Lexus is consistant with their access hole sizes.

I've had this issue. It began soon after the purchase. It became worse when I had people in the back seat and I went over bumps. I had a Lexus tech come out and listen, but it was hard to reproduce. It has gone now. I believe it was either the springs seating in the rear or something in the trunk area. I was never able to pin-point the location. If you still have the problem sit in the trunk and have someone take the RX over the curb. The noise did sound diffferent from the back seat, more like a vibration/buzz creaking kinda sound.

Where are these plugs you opted to replace? It's making me nervous.
