Catalytic Converter - 2005 RX 330
Hi All,
I drive a 2005 RX 330 with 179,000 miles. Great car with no serious problems; however, my Check Engine, VSC, and Trac lights came on this past weekend.
Two mechanics said it's the catalytic converter, and the repair is quoted at approx. $1,000. Has anyone else had this problem? Do I need to fix it?
Any insights would be appreciated.

Which bank?
What codes?
Is Cat blocked or losing efficiency?
I have a cheap harbor freight vacuum gauge Tee'd in like the video. With 7' extra hose I bring it in the car and drive around with it .

You can get a aftermarket convertor for a 1/5 of that price, if not lower....I have a 2.5'' Magnaflow convertor sitting on a shelf which was about $100....for a later exhaust upgrade.
