Oil Extractor
Skymall claims this is how Mercedes-Benz factory technicians are trained to change oil by extracting oil through the dipstick tube, Is this true?

I actually have this oil exactor for my BMW. It's so easy and since BMW oil filter is on top as well, it's great.
Although the oil filter for the RX350 is different, but it would locate on the same spot as the RX330, is that correct ?
Thanks

...Lexus of Seattle uses mobil 1: 5w-30 fully synthetic blend...do all dealerships do that?
...because you shouldn't be using an oem filter w/ any synthetic blend...not enough filtration...!!!

Synthetic Blends and Synthetics
Erick3- I think you mean Mobil 1 full synthetic 5w30. This is a popular choice for Lexus/Toyota as Mobil makes their oem stuff. However, blends may not be what they seem. At present there are no regulations governing blends! Some of the smaller oil companies are touting their products as blends--this is often because they use Group I base oils(cheaper, less pure) and need some synthetic to make spec! Larger companies may use their standard Group II base oil and add 10% synthetic to make a blend--There are small advantages but usually not worth the price. Full synthetic oils are all very similar (with an exception or two) They are made with Group II+ or GroupIII base oils (highly refined, very pure, but still petroleum based) and a synthetic additive package. Full synthetic oils are very similar--they have two major advantages. Faster oil delivery at cold start and their ability to maintain viscosity at high temps. Don't buy into the extended drain capabilities of synthetics--change your oil at regular intervals--abide by your owners manual! As for the oem filter not being compatiblewith synthetics--that's just not true! (sorry for the long post-I'm bored)

I have the same extractor .... I got it from Griot's Garage .... it works great. As for the oil extractor, I use it every other oil change and it is really convenient.
BTW, I have a Fumoto valve on and love it also.

Just did my '05 RX330 and it went like a champ. Didn't need 5 quarts, though, somewhere around 4.5.
