Master Alarm Unlock Keys / My Headlights were stolen
Has anyone heard of such a thing.
While they may not start the car, does a master *remote alarm* key exisit.
I could have sworn it sounded like my car was unlocked/hood closed *thump* prior to the incident.
I remember hearing the chirp , and a thump but I figuered it was just my kids coming back with the car, etc.
Basically, my headlights on my '04 RC330 were stolen last night ! I just picked up the car a month ago.
The hood/bumper is slightly damaged.
I'm going to test the alarm today and see how *sensative* the motion sensor is.

Yes, there's car alarm scanner out there that can keep trying different codes until it disables the alarm. It's also available for garage door opener (which is why we have rolling code garage doors.)
Not sure if there's a master key for Lexus, but any seasoned professional thief can pick a lock in 30 seconds or less. They can't start the engine because Lexus key has transponder microchip (unlike Ford with just a 5-cent resistor.) They can still take whatever parts they want.
Many Acura cars with HIDs are targeted by thieves in NY/NJ/CA because the HID system is a perfect fit on Honda Accords for the weekend racers. First time I ever heard that the RX330 get ripped.

i don't think the factory "alarm" has a motion senor at all. that's why they call it the "immobilizer system" the "alarm" will go off only if the doors are open from either the inside or outside of the vehicle while the system is armed.

Nope but close enough.....more towards the GWB .
Adjuster estimated total damage minus 500 deductiable. 4K in damage. Hood, Lights & Front Bumper Replacement. I've gotta find a good bodyshop now.....
Anyone know of any good ones (no orange peel, etc).

Sorry to hear. That's the price we pay to live in NYC! There are a lot of *****ty people out there! I always see lots of Maximas and TLs & CL without lights!
But never an RX!
Get yourself an aftermarket alarm along with the OEM alarm. I have the Valet 554R alarm (basically it is identical to the Viper 91x alarm....well, i'm not too sure about the Viper model name). I have 2 alarms on my car and both alarms are active at the same time.
It must suck to have that happen to any car.....but it must REALLY suck for that to happen to a BRAND new car.

My friend's Integra was stolen right from his driveway in Brooklyn two years ago. Not just the lights, the whole car was gone.

I'm not sure that a rolling code scanner will work on the Lexus. From what I understand ... the lexus key had rolling code in it, and it changes the code evry three seconds. I guess it might be possible, but highly unlikely. Just my thoughts.

No, it does not change the code every 3 seconds (doing so will require atomic clock installed on the car and each key.)
It changes the code every time you use it. The system can keep 4 separate rolling codes, which is why we are given 4 keys (2 masters, 1 valet, and 1 wallet.) Say you use master key #1, then the code for master key #1 will change for next run, but the codes for other keys remain the same.
Rolling code scanner works on all makes if configured properly.
