Default RX330 with mobil 1?

Well I have a 2004 RX330 with 8,000 miles on it and I am curious on whether or not to swicth to mobil 1 SYN oil. I was wondering if anyone else with an rx330 has used mobil 1 and has seen great benefits in gas miles and performance. So any input would be greatly appericate.

You will not see any beneft - performance, longevity, fuel economy, etc. unless you redline this engine the whole time driving to work.

I've been running M1 5W-30 since the first oil change (at 5K). I've seen a slight increase in gas mileage (only 1MPG). The big difference that I've seen is that the car seems to run cooler according to the temp gauge. I just bought the 5qt container at Wal-Mart for $19 and change and took it to the dealer to put in. If you're gonna put synthetic in, take your own to the dealer. Their price for synthetic is much higher than you just buying it yourself. Hope this helps.

I use synthetic whether or not it's Mobil 1.

It is good for me because the viscosity seems to last longer than natual oils for longer oil change intervals.

No fancy oil for me, I'm leasing my 330.

I used to use synthetics in my '01 Trans Am, and I always used Red Line synthetic oil. The car ran smoother and burned less oil than with Mobile 1. Red Line is also pure synthetic, Mobile 1 is a synthetic blend.

Yea thats the thing my RX330 is my company car so the company leases it and owns it but for some odd reason I do take good care of it and I will have it for 4 years. But I own a 2002 GS and I always have used mobil 1 since it was new. I can't decided what to do with the RX330. I know for sure I am not going to buy it. I was just pisted because the last time i took it to the dealer for an oil change they used 10w30. WHy would they have done that? So this time if I don't bring them mobil 1 I am going to make sure they use 5w30. THanks for all the repiles.

Just did it a few days ago and the car seems to be running smoother. I figure whats 20 dollars extra.

Default SYNTHETIC OIL

I have used AMSOIL since 1980 and have never had a oil related problem. I change it once per year or 25,000 miles with a filter change, using a AMSOIL filter every 6,000. I only put on about 15,000 per year so I generally change the oil filter twice between oil changes. It just makes sence to use synthetics with the extreme conditions in weather. Synthetic is so much better both in the hot summer & cold winter start ups. Even though we lease our RX 330 I wouldn't use anything else.

Default Stuck with it?

I heard that if you switch to synthetic oil, you cannot go back to the dino stuff. Is that true?

I also heard that you couldn't swicth back but if you read the mobil 1 bottle or the mobil 1 website it says you can combine it with regular oil and that it is compitable with regular oil. So I assume it is safe. Those big 5 quart jugs makes everything so much easier now. Thanks guys

Default YES U CAN

Sure u could switch back to dino oil but why?

Certainly not because of the cost difference, it costs less to use synthetic oil if u compare 3 or 4 oil & filter changes to one per year with Amsoil or any synthetic. Plus all the advantages of using synthetics.
