Question RX 330 Roof Rack Noise

On April 7th I picked-up my new RX 330 and so far I am very pleased with the vehicle except for the wind noise being generated by the roof rack cross members. Since I do not intend to use the roof rack I would like to remove it completely or at least the cross bars. I know that Lexus claims that they redesigned the cross bars to reduce noise, but the air flow across then still generates noise.
I have mentioned this to my dealer, but they claim that they have not done this before and think it may be a big job.
My questions to the forum are:
a) Can anybody tell me if they have had the roof rack or the cross bars removed and how difficult was it? b) Where can I find instructions on how to remove the cross bars and/or the roof rack?

The cross bars come out very easily - after removing some parts, they slide out the back. Tell your dealer to check TSIB BO011-03 to get the details.

The side rails are an integrated part of the car. They're probably not easy to remove, and depending on how they attach to the roof, you might have a mess when you're done.

Thank you for the information RX Driver.
I certainly will tell the dealer to check TSIB Boo11-03 and let you know what happens.

rxdriver,
Is this easy enough for me to remove myself? If so, can you post the details? I asked my dealer about removing the crossbars at my 1000 mile service last year and they told me they would need to disassemble the entire rack at a cost of around $180. I declined. The bars just get in the way when I wash and wax the roof.
Thanks

Here's what the TSIB says (verbatim):

1. Grab from the sides and lift up from the center to remove the rear roof rack end caps.
2. Unscrew and remove the retaining screw on each rail.
3. Remove the affected roof rack through the back of the rails.

Looking at the car, it appears that the end caps are plastic and can be snapped off. Because I have no desire to break anything, I have not tried this procedure myself. I like the cross bars.

rxdriver,
Thanks for the instructions. I don't want to break anything either so I'll live with the crossbars if I don't think I can remove them without causing any damage.
