Question CBEST setting changes for the RX330

To all RX330 owners........
If you have made any changes to the CBEST settings, what changes were made?

Had the following done at the 1,000 mile check:

1. Programmed doors to unlock when putting transmission in park
2. Programmed remote to unlock doors with one press of the remote
3. Programmed rear power lift gate to beep only twice

Is it possible to have just the passenger side mirror tilt down when in reverse?

msilverls
I had the dealer print out the C-BEST list for me at the 1K checkup and I do not see an option for reprograming the mirror tilt down function. Unfortunatly I do not have a scanner or I would scan and post the list for everyone. I will probably have my dealer make the same changes that JRB did when I take it in for the 5K checkup. JRB, does the dealer charge for making these changes?

It should be free - suggest doing it in conjunction with the 1,000 mile check, when they should be very receptive to ironing out any little thing that's bothering you.

Default C-CEST

You can program the door locking changes yourself. The proceedure is in the owners manual.

Good luck.

At 30-day checkup:

- Reprogrammed so ALL doors unlock upon shift into Park.

At 5K service:

- Reprogrammed rear door to respond to remote without delay (was .8 sec)
- Reprogrammed auto headlights to extinguish on driver's door open (was on delay)

Minor annoyance, not programmable:

- I wish that the window lockout button would lock out the individual door window switches, BUT leave the driver's switches ACTIVE! My MBZ worked this way, I guess I'm used to it, but I end up fighting my kids for control of the windows...

JRB: Went to my dealer today to have my 330's sunvisors replaced, and asked them to change the rear-door opening beep to one; they didn't know how to do it!?! They were running some sort of computer program but couldn't find it. They wanted me to print out what I saw on CL, but I told them that it's a forum that people write about what they've done w/ their CBEST changes and not a detailed instructional site

Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated! :

I don't see that one in the repair manual...

For the power back door, it's got:

PBD SW OPER
Values: 0.8s, 0.0s Default: 0.8s
Determines whether or not you need to press and hold the switch on the dash to open the door.

WIRELS PBD OPER
Values: 0.8s PR, 1 TIME, 2 TIMES, OFF Default: 0.8s PR
Determines how the wireless key button should work: press and hold, press once, press twice, or disable.

PBD BUZZ VOL
Values: LARGE, SMALL, OFF Default:: LARGE
Change the volume of the beeping noise.

PBD ASSIST CLS
Values: ON, OFF Default: ON
Function to close the door with the assistance of the PBD. (Not sure exactly what this is... some amount of assistance when you close the door manually?)

PBD ASSIST OPEN
Values: ON, OFF Default: OFF
Function to open the door with the assistance of the PBD.

msilverIS, note that on my post I said that I had them change it to only beep TWICE, not once. As I recall, at least on the earlier RX330's like I have, the factory default was four beeps.

Sorry, selective reading Mine came w/ 2 beeps, so I guess I'm happy...

To make C-BEST changes, the dealer's technician plugs in a computer or handheld tester and scrolls through a list of things that can be changed. That explains the somewhat cryptic titles in my earlier reply - that's what the computer should display for the tech.

Angry

I recently spoke with a service advisor @ Rallye Lexus to inquire about CBEST changes. She had no idea what I was talking about. Additonally she informed me that making any changes to the factory alarm (that was the only way she could understand CBEST settings) was a chargable fee of $98.

I quickly ended the conversation. Is this true? CBEST changes are chargable?

My dealer didn't know what I was talking about either, but I told them it was the programming system for electronic features on the SUV, and that I found out about certain CBEST changes on Club Lexus.com. When I brought in my 330 to have my sunvisors replaced about 2 weeks later, they seemed to know what to do. (turns out my rear-door 2-beeps came set from the factory at the minimum amount of beeps allowed)

I really doubt they are allowed to charge you for that; I didn't get charged. Call your regional office and set them straight!
