Has anyone tried this on their RX??
I found it on another site. It sounds logical if all the wires are the same.

this information has been posted earlier but is worth repeating. while this information works for lx470's up to 2002, it is up to you to check if the wiring for your vehicle is the same. you can watch dvd's on the navigation screen with a simple 15 minute fix. pull the wood panel off from the center of the dash. there are two clips towards the outside of the top of the panel and two about 6 inches down on the sides. remove the electric clock connection on the bottom of the panel and set aside. remove the four screws holding the navigation screen. behind the temp up and down button there is a grey connector. locate and cut the violet wire 2" from the unit. shrink wrap or tape off these wires. this elimimate the speed sensor turning off the video. in the same connector, locate and cut the red wire with the white stripe 4-5" from the unit. shrink wrap or tape off the end that goes to the wiring harness. strip the end coming from the unit and ground it to the top left screw holding the unit in the metal frame. this simulates the emergency brake being on. slip everthing back together and only watch videos while moving ONLY IF YOU ARE THE PASSENGER! many thanks to sal who posted this back in february of 2002. by the way i e-mailed doctor bypass on ebay to ask him what his makes his $95. unit better than this free fix and got no reply.

yeah i have one in my rx 330, you have to get to a good store and ask about installing a rgb to ntsc converter usually right behind the dvd player of the nav, you will probably need to get the wirirng diagram, i got it straight from the lexus service website, take a look at my car, you can then call my shop if you have any more questions

Toyota tried to protect you and others from an accident. If you want to play movies pull over, push the parking brake on, and watch em. It is illegal in many states to have a television playing in the front seat while driving. Although I see them all the time here.

I personally can't imagine anyone wanting this. Driving is a lot more entertaining to me than watching some television, even movies.

I recently read where a South Florida man was arrested for watching a **** movie on a large tv screen while driving down the road. It didn't say which stick he had his hand one. Go figure.

well i have a few points, one is that i dont watch when i drive i play but i have hooked up a rear view camera and night vision system through that output, on a gx 470 and other video through the rx330 system.

Second what is **** in your view "Old school?" "Eyes wide shut?" the whole issues of saying what a person can and cannot watch is unamerican, or at least pre Janet Jackson Superbowl unamerican since then media has become a hot topic

I would define **** as unacceptable, explicit sex acts that shouldn't be viewed by the public. Maybe that is "Old School", whatever that means.

Police man, nah........ But I do have sense enough to protect me and try to protect the ppl around me as well. We already have enough idiots trying to talk on cellphones and booming stereo systems on the highways, we certainly don't need to be watching The Fast and Furious, when it is happening right in front of us!

If laws didn't protect us Americans, we'd be labeled 3rd world.

just out of curiosity how old are you?? you really should lighten up. you think people in mis. are giving you a hard time driving? why dont you come to nyc and see how hard it is.

seriously though, relax people are just trying to enjoy themselves.

Then why not watch TV @ home rather than enjoying it going down the road. I'm 33 and know exactly how it is to drive in NYC, that's why I was against it. I'll say it again, we have way to many distractions while driving.

i agree with Ray on the driving point, playing in view of the driver is distracting and i am talking from experience not just driving in DC, NYC and Boston, but also London, Cairo and Italy. What is was making a statement about was the fact that it could also be used to help the driver.

The second point i was trying to make was, if people in the rear of the car are watching a movie that ius rated R or NC-!7, some people will say that is pornogrphic and i am sorry but i have to lean to the side of personal freedom than having the Goverment make that decision for me. However i am not a pervert, i have a 10 year old sister that i love and who i set the rear view system up for, however i think that by simply speeding past or slowing down, you can make your own decision on what you can see from your windows.

Well I don't know about you, but I have curtains/blinds on my windows at home for a reason. To keep anyone from seeing in.

What if you drove by an elementary school with a pornographic movie going and had to stop at the crossing guard to let 10 y/o's cross and they saw your movie?

I don't think the government is taking away our rights, just helping those who don't have enough sense to make sound decisions. Personal freedoms are one thing, laws are another. Indecent exposure not only applys to a physical person, it includes movies, mags, brochures........

All I am trying to say in the response I initially gave is this, You don't need to watch TV while driving, it is fabulous to be able to do this. It is dangerous. It affects others lives(that take away from their personal freedoms) with you doing this. It is not your right to watch TV while driving. It is against the law.

Waves white flag and surrenders.

okay your not getting me, let say you are watching a Rated R movie, like police academy or old school or Bachelor Party which have nudity, not graphic nudity but nudity, you could get stopped and fined even though it is a legal movie for you to watch. he rules dont say XXX movies they say innapropriate movies, that is to vague for my own beliefs. I mean So of the funniest and most drmatic movies have nudity, for example last years(not this years) movies that won best male and female actor in the academy awards won, both had nudity and adult situations.
