Mandyfig what's the latest TSB on the Dash Rattle for the 04 RX330? My 330 just started rattling behind the instrument cluster.

There's quite a few out there. Best way is to pinpoint exact location and then explain well with your service advisor. Best way is to be able to re-create in front of the tech person. I will check on my files and see if there is one specifically talking about rattle behind the cluster.

I don't have a dash rattle... thank goodness! BUT my sunroof part rattles, it seems to rattle from the edge of the sunroof to under the light and sunroof opener area. It drives me nuts! I took it to Lexus and they said they fixed it, but it still rattles, so I just bang on it. LOL!

You have to take it back, eventually they will fix it.

It looks like most of the dash rattle issues are in the older model RX's. Has the problem been solved in the '08-'09 models?

I have a 2008 RX350 AWD that I bought new last month. It has a dash rattle that you can barely hear with the radio on and most of my passengers do not hear it unless I ask them to listen for it. I am going to have the dealer address the problem when I take my RX in for the 5000 mile complimentary oil change. I am getting used to it as it seems I am the only one that really notices it. It's not real loud and it is not a consistent rattle, just when the road is a little bumpy. If this car was several years old I probably would not notice it but on a brand new Lexus, I expect it to be as quiet as my 2005 ES330 and 2000 BMW Z3 which it is not.

fw1, have you fixed it?

I have rattle which sounds like you described. It is not easy ro repro. I hear it every morning. I went to lexus dealership but they where not able to fix it. They say "It is not consistent and loud enough to find the source".
I found it comes louder on engine's 1200-1400 rpm. It is typical idle rpm when you start it at morning. It is definitely depended on engine's rpm. It becomes louder when i go downhill with breaking by engine (same 1200-1400 rpm)

WOW, I thought this subject was layed to rest a long time ago.

If you read back U will see that this has been a problem that Lexus is aware of & has tried many fixes. Take it to a dealer & have let them go for it. Most of us did just that. I finally got rid of it by trading our '04 in for a '09.

Ticking noise could be the injectors...had mine done and it went away....might be looking at the wrong thing.

Trying to describe a problem is so hard. Then you add a screwy Service advisor, you are toast. You have to learn how to describe the problem. I read a list of typical descriptions of problems from an Acura service manual. In the list, the common descriptions of the problems are explained. If the SA does not hear one of them, they automatically rule you out. I will see if i can find that list and I will post it here.

It is good idea to check injectors. I'll consider it.
Lexus dealer... I've been there twice with the problem. I was able to repro. But they where not able to find source. They covered cords in that area but it does not work. Mechanic said the source could be even outside...
Btw, how easy to remove driver's vent piece? It is just small plastic part at the corner of left side.
I'm going to buy Haynes Repair Manual today...

I finally gave up on repairing the dash noises for my '06 GS300. There was no end to it. I finally sold the car and bought a Ford with no dash noises.

Default Dash rattle and makes weird noise

I have a 2004RX330 made in Japan and recently i experience the dash rattle and noise. I am not the first owner so not sure whether the first own had it fix or not. Now the car is out of warranty, does anyone know how much it would cost to have the rattle fixed?

At any rate, they have it now and I'm driving a new loaner vehicle, an RX 350 with only 900 miles on it.
Did they fix the rattle?
