A guy in a local stereo shop who used to install remote starter & alarm system for my cars said that the price for remote starter is about $300 (including the de-coding which needs one of your key) and for remote starter & alarm system is $450. If you just want the remote starter, you will get a new remote which works for remote starter and the factory keyless entry function (need to be programmed).

If the system installed correctly, you will have no problem with it as long as you own the car and even the next owner. I had the remote starter & alarm on my last cars (Accord - 11 years, Camry 3.5 years) with no problem. I agree that dealer always blames on any aftermarket modifications.

Anyway, I would go for the dealer (Lexus) if they can install these after market remote starter for $300 to $400. Then, they can blame themself.

I have not ordered this yet, but plan to! I have had remote start on the last three cars & cannot live without it! O.K., perhaps a bit too much drama but you know what I mean. I particularly like this one because it works with the Lexus FACTORY key/remote!

Due to some reason, the link above did not work for me. Any Reason? I am very interested in a remote starter for my 2004 RX330

I know it's a few years since you posted this. Did you have any problems with your remote start? Did the Dealer give you any problems when you brought the car in for service or maintenance?

I installed it on my previous ES and GX. It really depends on the installer, if they know what they are doing you won't have any problems with it at all. I've used Viper Remote starters wit lcd. As far as dealer giving people hard time is when you have electrical problem and is related to any of the wires that was tapped while getting your remote starter, it will avoid warranty even if it hasn't expired.

I had a remote starter installed on my 2005 rx330. It works great but when I start it with the doors unlocked, the car shuts off after only 60 seconds. I assume this has something to do with the doors relocking if no door is opened in one minute. It was aftermarket and manufacturer was AVITAL.

Default Remote Start No Problem

I had one put in years ago 3rd party in my wife's 2004 RX330. Works great, have not had a problem. Works great for her on those cold mornings prior to work.

R3Wood, what 'additional' stuff was required? Anything beyond a standard bypass module? Thanks.

Installed a 4706 2-way Viper myself. You need the bypass and second starter relay to get most of it to work. If you want window roll down and tilt sense, that's another 2 modules.

What brand did you guys use and did it affect any of the security and electronic features of the car? How about the warranty? Thanks guys!

I have one on my 06 lexis rx330 i can't remember hat brand it is though! Up until I lost the remote for it, it always worked well. I've never had any issues with any of the other electronics or security features! Make sure you're getting it done by a reputable shop! I'm now trying to figure out how to get my remote replaced!
