Does anyone have a recommendation for or experience with a roof-top carrier? I've seen some for skis but am looking for something more general purpose.

I have a Thule Weekender. It's a very nice carrier in the 200.00 range. I am ordering a trailer to pull behind the car soon. I just don't like climbing up a 45k car to put stuff in the carrier. Just got back from vacation and took a 2 rung step ladder to keep from climbing into the door jambs to get to my stuff up there. And then, I was worried about dropping something on the car......
