Since I was putting on a trailer hitch and neede to get into the wiring anyway, I bought the black version of the 2001-2003 lights for my 2000 Rx300 from procarparts on eBay for $179 + $23 in shipping. Shipping was timely and the merchandise was very well packed.

There were some minor issues in this effort:

On the liftgate, there is one interior panel to remove. The electrical connectors had to be cut off both the existing wiring and the new lamps, but other than that there were no issues. I used simple "butt" connectors and it all went smoothly.

On the body, removing the panels is a major hassle. The electrical wiring was very simple as the new plugs were identical to the old ones. The grommet did not fit and I ended up using the old grommet - which, with some effort, did slip over the electrical connectors - and a little silicone caulking to seal it all up.

On both sets of lights, the wiring colors are all over the place. The wiring in the body doesn't match the liftgate. The wiring on the new taillights doesn't match the old. On the body, the wiring changes colors at the connectors. You can expect to need to test/check entensively.

The conformance of the parts to the body contours is not perfect - but you have to really look for it.

And I broke the cover for the rear power outlet...

At the end of the day - actually about four hours including the trailer hitch wiring:

The change in look of the vehicle is fantastic. I have a green RX - and the original Red/Orange lights looked like - well, not good. The black version of the 2001-2003 looks great and is a perfect complement for the stock blackened headlights.
