Million mile dream? Pipe dream?

Take your time, I'm sure you will find a second gen RX meeting your criteria. I got incredibly lucky and found my 2007 ES350 fully-loaded (except ultra luxury package) with only 22,000 miles in just 4 months this past summer, and to top it off I got an excellent price! The car has full service records, oil changes every few months and had all recommend service done. The first winter the car ever saw was this year under my ownership, otherwise the car was always garaged. Luckily, rust isn't an issue for you where you are.

Yes good luck with your search, remember they can be transported or fly there and pick it up, and have a nice drive back...Look at California, Vegas cars as at least they have no rust.

Good point to remember. And take your time! Although, I'm pretty sure (just from reading your comments over the years) you wouldn't jump into anything without thoroughly investigating it!

I have done the mechanical fix up and the RX is back on road and drives fine. Plenty of cosmetic damage and still dealing with insurance company.

Body work requires replacing rear 1/4 panel either with a new or from a salvaged vehicle. I dont have the tools or the skills to do the body work. Interest, yes, know how yes but not enough hands on experience to pull it off.
Having it dented and shaped/filled ... does not appeal much to me and again I lack the skill to do it.

Well, good to hear it's back on the road, albeit with a caved in rear wing. You could certainly strip the interior, and cut the offending area out. Find a replacement and have a shop weld it in, then do the paint prep work yourself, and send it back to the paint shop for finishing.

It seems it is getting closer to saying goodbye to my '99RX and switch to 2011 RX450H. Lets see what happens in next few days. Not at a point in my life to purchase new and drive million miles over the year. Some wishes dont come true, but at the same time I need to be thankful that every one, [even the idiot who hit us] walked away from the accident.

Absolutely it's possible. Any car that is "properly maintained" can run for 250-300K, but it becomes a matter of semantics. Do we continue to invest money into a car that, at some point, is not worth the next repair? Salim's RX is at roughly 250K, and runs great. In reality, because of the age, the insurance company will total it and offer him somewhere in the vicinity of 2500-3500 dollars for the car.
If he bought it back for 500 and put 2000 into it to fix the damage, he would be back to square one. The big question is, is it worth the hassle?
The other option is, as was stated already, take the money and buy something else.
Oh, and Ski, get the TB done ASAP!!

took 2kharrier's advice and had the timing belt, fluids etc done at 212k miles. Had the shop replace the side marker lights too. Thinking of taking off the roof rack to increase gas mileage. Car is now my wife's daily driver for short photo trips around town, so the mileage is only about 17 everything else works perfect, except the shift indicator light. not worth the hassle to fix.
