Changing Rear Valve Cover - What other work should I do?
My Rx 300 is consuming quite a bit of oil while driving for prolonged periods at high speed, I just bought it last year had about 50000 miles and was pretty clean (I am 2nd owner). It has 75000 miles now. So I want to change out the rear valve cover for the RX 330 version as others have recommended. What additional work should I have my mechanic do when doing this. I don't think the rear spark plugs have been changed. Would now be the time to change those as well? Any other recommendations on things to I can do at this time? Timing belt, water pump, etc. I am not to sure of previous maintenance completed so I want to take as much precaution as possible when thinking about what else to replace.

replace worn out brittle vacuum hoses as needed. Your timing belt and water pump are typically due at 90k but have your mechanic look at the condition and inspect for any leaking since they are old. Idealy if you have the OEM Iridium plugs, you would change them out near 110k intervals, since you are paying for labor to replace the rear valve cover, it might be worthwhile to change the whole set at this time, sets of 6 can be found around $35-40.
If you have any accessory belt noises, your old belt can be done at this time as well. Miscellaneous stuff like greasing brake slide pins and inspecting pads and rotors can be done, but you can save more money doing that on your own. Refer to your owners manual for other items that would be due for the nearest service interval.
