2000/2001 Parts Interchangeable?
Long story short. A county worker driving one of their transportation vans decided that it was better for the both of us to drive in the same lane. So, we purchased another car and are going to fix my RX and give it to our daughter.
One of the parts we need is a right front fender. My question is: 1) Will a fender from a 2000 RX fit on our 2001 RX? I did some research and it seems that the Lexus part numbers are the same, so that would indicate that it would fit AND 2) The fender that I found is gold. Our RX is gold. Since both years are the 1st generation would they be the same paint code?
Thanks for any info you can provide.

The 2001 RX gold paint code is 4P2. You can double check if it matches the 2000 RX if it matches through the VIN decoder if a VIN can be provided, also a Lexus dealer body shop should be able to confirm.

Color matching only works when vehicles roll out of the factory. Once in use the paint fades differently on each part. I mean your front and back will most likely not match. If there is a visual separation 1/8" or more between 2 parts your eye will not be able to detect the shade difference.
Long story short, if you have a 2 tone vehicle where the bumper color is different from the body, as long as you remain the in same family of colors you can safely change them. Keep in mind the used fender skin may have been painted after it left the factory.

Thanks for the help. Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. Sometimes life gets in the way.
Well, I searched the internet and found a headlight assembly, rt fender (same color as our RX, saved us on paint and labor), purchased a bracket and some clamps and we put the old girl back together today. The original estimate came in at $3328. There were a few things the adjuster missed AND he put a halogen headlight on the estimate instead of a HID headlight. If we would have had it done at a body shop and they asked for a supplement the car would have been totaled. We didn't want that to happen so, we took what was offered on the original estimate.
We fixed the car for a grand total of $805.
