ABS Light on Dash comes and goes
Hello
I have a 2000 RX300 AWD
Three times in the last two weeks upon starting the car in the morning the ABS light came on. I noticed it shortly after driving so not sure if it came on at startup or when the vehicle started to move.
In all three instances the the light stayed on as I drove to work.
At lunch time when I went to drive to lunch the ABS light was not on after starting the vehicle.
Anything I should look out for?
What should I do next time it happens?

Are you still able to shift into O/D? Do you feel any instances of the abs kicking in randomly? Not much to go on here but it may be worthwhile to check your abs sensors for debris that might be causing monitoring problems with sensing your tone rings.

The next time it should happen should I turn off the car and try to retrieve the codes. Is it correct that the engine must be off to retrieve the codes? Am thinking it might point me in the direction as to which wheel is having the trouble?

Basic OBDII does not cover brake codes. You need to jump certain pins and read the brake codes by counting flashing track light. If you search you will find it on the net and If I/any_one finds the process they will post it here.
I did start a thread on which OBDII (advanced) reader can read the brake codes, but no one responded to it.
There are live readers and passive readers. The cheap one are generally passive, and should be connected with key out of ignition and read when the key is turned to run (before start).
