Default Exhaust Manifold problems

I bought a 99 rx300 from a friend of mine who told me it has Manifold problems. The car has a deep coarse sound from the exhaust system and am asking if it can be fixed or do I change the whole exhaust system?

Welcome to Club Lexus!

It's not quite possible to diagnose an exhaust system over the internet, but if only the exhaust manifold (front or rear?) is leaking, then i don't see a need to replace the entire system. A good exhaust shop may be able to weld the manifold to fix it. This was a fairly common issue when these cars were younger, you'll probably find quite a few threads about this if you run a search.

My 1999 RX, presently with 235K, has had during its life both exhaust manifolds replaced, and the flex pipe between them also replaced twice.

the 99's were reported to have alot of cracked manifold complaints. Either get someone to weld them or find a used manifold from a salvage yard from a 2001-2003.
