It has been a long time. I followed intuition ... tabs needed to be pressed or pulled apart and twisting motion separated the hose. I agree with Fit1too.

Hi Fit1too and Salim,

Thank you both for the helpful replies. I've marked up a different pic with four arrows:

It looks to me (as you suggested) that squeezing on the areas pointed to by red arrows might work to lift the locking tabs over the canister port's flange, or perhaps (as you also suggested) two flat head screwdrivers pushed under those black locking tabs (pointed at with yellow arrows) would lift those tabs over the flange on the canister port, and allow it to be twisted/pulled off.

I'm sorry for the delayed reply, but I will and let you know what worked. Thanks again for your help : )

Regards . . .

Wish you success.

Plz share your fix if you figure it out.
I'm running an intermittent evap code and may have to do this too.

Mine is RX330 but connector looks similar best I can see since it's in a horrible place above the exhaust under a heat shroud near gas tank.

I've just emailed the following to sanoh.com. Hopefully they can help.

"Hi,
Our clublexus.com forum needs help determining how to remove one of your quick connectors. If you go to https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...anister-2.html , and go to the bottom and see my 02/07/2021 post, you will see I've added little red and yellow arrows to the photo of your SANOH connector. They point to what we are guessing needs to be done. Could you please tell us (or point us to) the correct way to remove this connector?
Thank you very much for your assistance : )
Regards . . . "

In case anyone else is stumped by this… I’ve tried on pick a part cars maybe 4 times and couldn’t remove. Either my finger were too big or not strong enough or accurate enough to squeeze that connector properly. But then I found that auto parts stores like auto zone, O’reily’s sells a cheap tool called AC/fuel line disconnect tool. It cost about $6-7. Plastic color coded parts depending on what size the hose is. The package you want (as there are different brands/types) is the one that has like little handles on the plastic tubes and they are organized in the packaging on a plastic various sized black tube. That’s the one I bought.
but there is a problem. The tool needs to be narrow enough to fit in the space but long enough to reach the tabs.
The connector to use is the orange one. But the top needs to be shaved off about 1/4 inch so it will fit in the space, but don’t cut too much or it won’t reach the tabs keeping the hose connected.
after doing this and using it the connector comes off easy peasy.
