Default Timing Belt

I was just going to do the belt,( this car only has 30k on it) and saw this after I got everything opened up.
So I went to the dealer and got the rest of the stuff to do the whole job.

It looks like it was leaking from that stud...? I cant remember but, did I read somewhere on here that some guys are using sealant on theses threads...?

I bought this tool off the net and figured out this little trick that worked for me....I was able to free the crank bolt by putting my feet on the lower control arm and pulling.

What year is your RX with only 30k miles? I would say you have a coolant leak.

Your picture is of a bracket. The leak source is either behind the bracket or above it. The picture shows where it is dripping from. Remove the bracket and see if the source is the water pump behind it.

It's a 2002, I bought it with 19k on it two years ago.

are you sure it only had 19,000 on it when you bought it? or did you mean 199,000? cause 19,000 is still like brand new for a 02 and if thats the case someone barely drove the thing.

Actually it had 18,700 miles on it just under 19k ,I wasn't searching for a Lexus in particular , just a vehicle with low miles and good price at the time.

Salim

I'll report back after I get it all apart, but im going to replace everything since I have it all torn down and then I should be good for 90k and everything will be equal.

A quick glance at the new pump and that's right where the weep hole is.

sealant on threads, is plumber's thing. In auto the threads are to secure one metal to another and gasket/orings to seal mating surfaces.

If some one is to do failure analysis, most likely they will find out that due to infrequent use the seal failed.

Glad it was an item you planned to replace.
