Default Antenna mast help!

I have a 99 RX300 AWD with a mast that was stuck up about 6 inches. Wouldn't budge. Did my research on here, took it all apart...motor worked fine, nothing broken off and stuck in the gears. I gave it a clean and reassembled. Have a new mast I've been trying to install but I can't get the plastic rail to go down though the tube so it can catch when I turn the radio off. To make sure it wasn't blocked when I had the motor apart I pushed it though up from the bottom no problem. Is there something I'm missing here? I hate the thought of taking it somewhere to fix this.

Thanks-

David

David, you said that you put the mast in when that motor was out, so nothings inside the tube blocking the new mast.
When trying to install, are the teeth facing towards the front of the car and the antenna is extended?
Don't have the outside nut tightened until you have the mast in the down (off) position.
Don't know if either of these is your problem.

Also make sure you have removed all pieces of the old mast. Once I struggled for few minutes and then I realized that I had left the lowest part in there.

That was my first thought too Salim but the OP stated that he ran the new mast up through to make sure there was nothing in the tube when the motor was out.

When you try to insert the plastic geared piece into the body there is a "shoulder" in the lower end of the tube that the plastic part tends to get stuck on and it won't go all the way down to the motor. Just rotate the plastic part while continuously stabbing it against the shoulder and it will eventually slip past so it can engage with the motor.

I have had this happen on a couple of RX300's. The antenna which formerly worked just fine now won't retract the last six inches or so. I solved one with a whole new antenna assembly, and a new mast has not solved the other one.

I sent a PM the other day to the OP wondering what the problem was & if he had fixed the antenna or not.
I didn't receive a response.
