Default About to test drive 03 RX300 w.74k miles - any tips?

Hi,
I have one day to fly from Maui to Oahu to test drive and decide whether to buy an 03 RX300 FWD w.74k miles. Dealer is asking $10k for it.

- Anyone have a short checklist I could use?
- Any big maintenance items (like timing belt & water pump) coming up between now and 100K?

Thanks,

Noob

I purchased a 1999 Rx 300 8 years ago with 110,000k on it for 7K. I still have it today with 250,334. I live in the Adirondacks of NYS with cold snowy winters, salted roads and pot holes. I would drive the car cross country tomorrow if need be, I trust it that much.
I keep good records of it, what I can remember of the 1999 was sensors tend to go at higher mileage; O2 sensor, fuel sensor. The most annoying thing I had at 190,000 miles was the ignition coils going bad. They went bad 1 at a time, finally after the 3rd time I just replaced the rest.
I don't think you can go wrong with an 2003 Rx with only 70K on it. Good luck

You can check at Lexus to see what maintenance they have done on the car. Sign up here

https://secure.drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrivers/home

You'll need the VIN.

Thanks Carver. That sounded like a good idea so I tried it. According to Lexus.com it has "No Service History."

I have driven it now and I do like the car and plan to get it. What kind of maintenance can I expect to do between 77k and 100k miles? Any preventative maintenance you knowledgeable guys recommend?

Thanks Dietz, you have inspired me to buy the car. I test drove it and fell in love with it. Am looking forward to telling a story like yours in 8 years time!

Cheers,
Napoleon

I bought an 03 a few months ago with 96k miles on it. Got it from a dealer, so had them replace timing belt and water pump as part of the deal. You will need to deal with that at some point. I love mine.
