Red face 2002 lexus RX300 VSC

02 lexus has a vsc light on and a check engine light, how do we repair the vsc issue and where is the charcoal canister located, what would cause the vsc light to come on.

Tell us what particular codes are showing up. I recall the charcoal cannister is adjacent to the spare tire well.

Welcome to the Club.

Do you have a list of the codes, as not necessarily because the check engine light went on is it a charcoal canister problem, the vsc light can come on and it is something entirely different.

Charcoal canister is under the rear of the car by the rear axle. Here is a picture. Just remove the cover and the canister is inside.

My 2002 Lexus RX300 turned on P0440 Code with VSC & Check Engine lights. I probably need to replace its original Charcoal Canister and Fuel Pump. Please advise me which brands are good.

Old original Canister brought up the issue of the code P0440, evaporative emission control system malfunction. Fuel pump has overworked as well, 280,000 miles of highways, hard to speed up initially to 30 to 40 mph. I heard of Denso Supra Turbo Fuel Pump that would help pumping more gas and its affluence better contribute to the system. I am looking for which brand/model fuel pump would fit into fuel tank.

Please advise what was the issue?
I've got exactly the same P0440 with CEL and VSC lights on.
Changed the Gas Cap, reset the computer by removing the minus from the battery, after 40 miles driving the lights came back.
Checked the hoses by the air filter everything looks ok.
Checked the hoses by charcoal canister looks ok.

I just want to be sure it is not just a cracked hose I need to replace before replacing the entire charcoal canister (which is pretty pricey) On some other forums, people even after replacing the canister still get the codes.

Please advise.

Welcome to CL. It is a nasty code to trace. You can go to a shop to get smoke test or follow the vac plumbing on the sticker in the engine bay and check each joint. Some times spraying with carb cleaner (make sure it is safe to use on RX) at each joint or suspect area can lead to a positive identification [your rpm jumps up].

The worst ones to trace are the rips that open up as engine leans over as you give more gas.

I watched a couple of Youtube videos, one for Canister Cleaning or the other for bypassing the routes with the two hoses swapped around. Would either way work out?
