Default RX300 "no disk detected" issue HELP!!!

Hello guys im pretty sure you all have heard about the no disk detected issue found in the rx300 with navigation mine recently crapped out on me... is their anyone out there that has this issue and is willing to post a DIY for this i heard its a little motor inside that controls a lazer to read the disk if anyone has done this or knows how to do this and is willing to help please do im am even up for sending the unit to someone who can do this i have seen shops that do this for like 300$ i dont have that kind of money right now...so anything will help :-) thanks again ~Anthony

As far as expense ... the saying is you have to pay the piper.

IMHO: This is not a must and I would not spend a single penny on an old out of date system. My mobile phone [which is few years old] is far superior.

Flip the discs over. I put them in the wrong way at first. Might be your issue

Thanks just might try to relocate screen for ac and add a double din android headunit for around 250$ thanks guys

Had a similar issue on an RX 330 and had to remove the head unit and physically remove the top disc in the stack.

What compatible head unit will work in the 2001 RX300? Can I get a newer unit from the salvage yard that would work?

I'd guess Nav unit ot Nav unit would fit.

An option is to go on ebay and get the din adapters and fillers and go with an aftermarket upgrade. Most of the time no splicing is needed.

I meant what other Lexus or Toyota units would be a drop in replacement. No aftermarket!

Ok, go to car-part.com, do the search ("Cd player", I think).

Once you find the unit you want, call the yard, and see if there's a part number you can cross-check vs your unit.
