I know a couple of you thought we were all just lifetime Lexus fanboys....but....not really the complete truth.
I was just speaking from my own personal experience with BMW's. I've owned 5 of them, raced 3, and worked on hundreds.

I have yet to drive a vehicle under $50,000 that can out handle my e36 M3's. But that driving experience comes at a price.

The OP was asking what would be a better choice for the next 60-100k miles.

The BMW he's looking at has 91k...
Add 60k to that and you're at 150k.

At 150k most BMW's are on their last leg if not meticulously cared for.

For example, I had an e46 330i that had a $150 thermostat that was considered regular maintenance every few years. How practical...

So to end this debate (which is NOT biased (as I have a soft spot inside for my Bavarian Autos)) the RX will more likely be the most reliable/cost effective option between the two.

Which answers the question the OP was asking...without bias...from first hand experience.



PS. In slightly related news, we looked at an older M Roadster to replace the wife's Z3 vert this weekend. It's her "Sunday car" and she's finally ready to step up to an "M" car....what a woman haha.

Well after some research as much as I like the awd X5.. it just seems from all the reviews it wasn't put together all that well from the factory...

I have set up my appt to get the timing belt done this week on the RX300.. I really don't think I will find a X5 as nice as my RX with in a decent price...
