Welcome to Club Lexus!

Please do a search here, you will find three options.

Piggyback door lock actuator ($5-$7), replacing the little RC motor inside of the current door lock actuator ($20 max, can be done as cheap as $10), or replacing the entire door lock actuator assembly ($$$).

Can you give me an estimate on the labor for options 1. and 2. I called an independent Toyota/Lexus company and they gave me a price of $550 including labor for option 3. I am wondering how much the labor would be if I replaced the RC motor inside the door lock actuator. Do you know where I can get the RC motor for the inside door lock actuator and the approximate labor cost? Thanks!

I would just do the piggy back method (just did it myself a few months ago). It's not a bad diy if you are handy. A mechanic should not be getting much more than $100 to do the piggy back. It's a 1-1 1/2 job.

This thread explains everything, it gets better toward the end:http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums...-less-than-15/

This is the piggyback door lock actuator :
Amazon.com: High Power Door Lock Actuator 2 Wire: Automotive Amazon.com: High Power Door Lock Actuator 2 Wire: Automotive

After having tried both methods, I like this method more: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...-write-up.html

Show both DIY's to your mechanic, and see how much labor he would charge.
