Is a BG Power Steering fluid flush Reasonable?
My local mechanic is recommending a BG-brand Power Steering Fluid flush. My concern is that the BG fluid doesn't say Dextron or Toyota-compatible. My question is whether or not the BG-brand fluid is safe to use. I know using quality Dextron ATF fluid with a turkey-baster is less expensive.

Why do you need to flush?
If the fluid is old, why not just use the turkey baster and do a few exchanges. I would not even recommend disconnecting hose (with that many years, you might break a nipple or the hose may not seal again).
Never over do anything specially on old vehicles.

I'll give a fourth nod for turkey baster and basically any synthetic ATF. Synthetic fluid will help in climates where you see extreme cold or extreme heat. Which basically everyone lives in one or the other...or both lol.
Average of 4 degrees here in Pittsburgh over the last couple weeks. But in summer we'll see 100 degree days with high humidity.
I run full synthetic fluid for EVERY single fluid my car has. From brake fluid to diff oils.
