Rear Strut Difference? AWD vs FWD
What is the difference in the AWD and FWD rear struts? I have the AWD and just recently changed the struts and springs with AWD stuff....but the springs work for both AWD and FWD (H&R) so I was just wondering what the strut difference is? They look the same when I look up the part numbers and stuff. I originally wanted to do Tein coilovers but supposedly the rears wont work with the AWD which is why I ask.

Thanks for the link but I already knew the springs were interchangable. I was asking about the rear struts themselves what the difference was. If its something as simple as mounting tabs for brake lines then I dont care much about that...but if the FWD rear strut absolutely will not bolt onto the AWD thats another thing. By looking at both the FWD and AWD they look the same to me.

Yes, the difference is the mounting for the ABS Speed Sensor cable if I remember correctly.

Carguy did mention the mounting brackets for the brake lines but I was just wanting clarification from a second source as well since I had initially read that the rear FWD struts wont bolt to the AWD. If the case was only the brake line bracket then thered be no reason Tein coilovers cant be run on the AWD when theyre specified for FWD

In an effort to clarify, here is what Lexmex has stated about the differences.

I'm sure he will post here and offer more advice.

So the speed sensor wire on the right side of the strut...the tiny bracket there is the difference. That's quite ridiculous that they wouldn't make an "AWD" version as well over such a minor difference.
