Default Toyota vs. Lexus service

Was due for an oil change and transmission drain/refill (every 3rd oil change). Called the local Lexus dealer: $59.99 oil change, $159.99 tranny drain/refill less 10% discount, total $209.88 with tax. Toyota $24.99 oil change, $64.99 tranny drain/refill less $10 discount coupon, total $84.80 with tax. And they did the inspection, set my tire pressure per my request, washed my RX, gave me courtesy shuttle to work and free cookies and coffee. That Lexus "free" loaner for the day is pretty pricey. Anyone not handy, like me, looking for a good mechanic with a little bit of the dealer pampering should give their local Toyota dealer a shot.

The only odd thing was I knew the mileage when I brought it in and when I picked it up it had ten more miles on it. That seems to be some test drive; my guess perhaps it was taken for lunch? No big deal but I thought it a bit odd.

Just make sure you tell every one that Lexus and Toyota are interchangeable and you drive a Toyota

Seriously, you can even do to for less by going to any shop of your liking.

Few things about Lexus dealerships ,,, some give a discount for not using their loaner program. You can bring your own fluids and save. The labor rates are about $20 per hour between Lexus and Toyota.

Salim, it's NOT the labor rate you have to worry about, it's the PROFIT rate!

Oh yes, the Lexus dealers' profit rates are quite high!
