99 RX300 Radio + climate control back lighting?
Still getting to know my 99RX300 and noticed when driving at night that there was no back lighting for the radio and climate controls. Is this normal or are these supposed to be illuminated?
I'm not referring to the computer display up top but rather the control **** and buttons for the radio and AC.
Thanks, Chet

There is suppose to be backlighting there. I believe it's controlled via the **** under the gauges. But, if your gauges are bright already then that means the light is already turned on and the HVAC ***** should be lit up from behind.

Thanks hypervish, I have tried to adjust the **** under the speedo that you pointed out and it does work for all exept the radio and climate control. When I turn it I only get some amber LEDs on the the radio and AC *****, but no back lighting. Are they're bulbs that could have burnt out the are behind the radio bezel or a fuze I can check ?

You're welcome!
This is the best shot I could find of the radio lighting: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/3972128-post5.html
Does yours look similar to that? Keep in mind, the color on your backlighting should be green unlike the one shown in the picture.
EDIT: Here's a better picture:

Possibly a blown fuse. Check your cabin fuse box. . its located behind the 'coin box' storage bin to the left of the steering wheel, just pop off the storage bin and you will see the fuses. there's a diagram on the back of the bin to identify the individual fuses - the fuse for the lights you are looking for is labeled something obvious like 'radio light' or similar ..
Replace blown fuse - if you keep blowing the same fuse you might have a shorted wire somewhere, which will be a PITA to find.

Update: pulled the only obvious fuse that said "Radio No.2" and that knocks out the radio display entirely and causes it to not turn on. Also not getting any lights on the shift lever indicator, can that all be tied to one specific fuse ?
Will keep looking for other possible fixes and keep you posted,
Issue resolved! Ended up being the fuse labled "7.5 amp PANEL fuse " located in the fuse panal behind the coin holder. Thanks for all the susgesstions.

Well she blew another fuse! I had replaced the 7.5 amp PANEL fuse with a 10amp one because thats what I had lying around and it lasted about 2 months.
Consensus on the web seams to point to a loose cigarette lighter socket or a possible short in the headlight harness, but I would love to hear any other solutions and experiences from RX300 owners that keep blowing this fuse.
