Question Power Antenna

Hi Everyone,
Do you know how to disconnect the power of the antenna motor on rx2002? I don't want the antenna to go up. Thanks

1 easy way is to cut the lead from the radio on the back of the radio.

another idea is look to see what fuse it is on, if it is alone pull the fuse

otherwise you have to go in through the side of the back hatch and that looks ruff

but i was wondering why you would want to do this? are you not going to use the radio any more? if this is the case just dont turn the radio on the and the antana wont go up any way?

it runs off the head unit....so pulling a fuse won't work. i'll take a look at the wiring diagram and tell you wich wire to clip. i'll post tomorrow.

We have been thinking about disconnecting antenna in the "up" position for the winter - it collects a lot of salt that I would rather not have inside the housing. My 84 Supra, after 8 years the only rust was around the antena housing - I assume from road salt getting inside the housing somehow.

I know on my wife's Clieca, the service tech popped a panel off inside the trunk & pulled a cable off - basically disconnected the motor. Anyone done this on their RX?

I have seen the assembly but never bothered to disconnect it. That is the wire I was referring to. you can access it either behind the factory radio or from the passenger side of the cargo area.

I installed a powered/amplified roof mount antenna off of an acura mdx. no more up and down antenna (have an aftermarket head unit as well). pulls in more stations and looks good too lol.

Pull the carpet back from the cargo area and pull the harness of fof the antenna motor when it is in the position you want. If you clip the wire and you want to resell the car down the road, it is more work to reconnect it.

Lightbulb power antenna

Thank you all for the help and info. now the hard part is how to access to the motor to disconnect the power connector. It appears I have a lot of screws and clips to remove the rear cargo right panel.

AudioMan, is it a lot of work to get access to the harness? or fairly easy but takes time? Thanks

Shonuff, I like the roof antenna.
