Vibration / buzzing at 2000RPM
I've had a vibration / buzzing on my 2002AWD at 2000RPM for several months. I've read other threads where there is a vibration at idle or 750RPM - that condition doesn't exist in my case.
It is more of an annoyance than anything. I've had the heat shields tightened, and that didn't help.
It doesn't happen all the time - but when it does, it is just at 2000RPM, and sounds like it is coming from under the vehicle. And it sounds like a combination vibration / buzzing.
It does not occur if in park @ bringing the RPMs up to 2000 - only when driving.
Has anyone else experienced this? I realize it is tough diagnose without hearing or looking under the vehicle - but figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.
Thanks

It is present at any speed, but annoys me the most often around 30 or 40MPH when maintaining a steady speed. It would drive be batty if it happened on the highway - but going at highway speeds is well above 2000 RPM.
Even when accelerating from a stop, the minute it hits 2000RPMs, even in first or second gear, I'll hear it for a split second, then when the RPMs climb to around 2100, it'll stop.

Is it related to MPH or engine rpm [due to gearing you would hit rpm at various MPH]?
I am trying to isolate the wheel vs engine ... although in PARK you hear no vibration at 2500 rpm.

To me (and I too my RX300 out this morning down a long road near my home and also my neighbor's 2001), and right around that 2000 rpm point can be a gear shift. In addition right around that point is where I get some more rattle underneath from my modified exhaust. An additional item is a combination of that rattle and gear shift and you may get some vibration there. Only other thing that comes to mind is engine mounts, but that wouldn't make enough noise (at least not the type you are hearing) unless they were really bad and then it would be a much different, more noticeable type of vibration. I'd go underneath and push and band a little bit by hand on the exhaust piping underneath to see if there is any play there.
