Other than having the service manuals, the closest thing may be this thread from about 5 years ago (can't believe it's been that long), when I was in Mexico, https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...went-bump.html

I dropped the tranny out of my 2000. The easy thing I found is to drop the engine craddle. Trans is easily to get to and once you get all the bolts out you can take it right off

No I just used jack stands. I recommend using a lift if you have one . Because you have to jack the body pretty high to clear the engine

after taking out the tranny, and taking it apart, i can't see anything wrong with it.. and the Auto Transmission specialist agrees looks like the problem is with the Transfer anyone had this?

Well, what problems were you having with the transmission/transfer case? I didn't see it posted above, but maybe I missed it.

So once it is overhauled would you be installing it? My suggestion would have been to allow the overhaul folks do the removal and installation (then there is little chance of finger pointing

Remember to change the rear main seal of the engine.

Make sure the overhaul includes a new (some say redesigned) planetary gear.

The planetary gears are 250-300 a piece and there's 3 of them so make sure they're bad before you replace them. Just my two cents

Thomas is our resident expert on transmissions. I would take his advice. There are things that you do not skimp on and my understanding is these are it if you have the 99 model and maybe 200/2001. There was a change.
