Rear Seat Protector (Large Dog)

Rear seat protection from large dog
My medium dog has good travel manners and lays down on an area of padded towels behind the front passenger or the driver's seat, depending on cargo or if I have human rear seat passengers aboard. The RX is flexible that way, with the 60/40 split seats. She also has access to a "Water Hole" drinking dish that is hard to spill. The larger dog is crate trained and so far has been travelling nicely and enjoying her security in her large crate that fits nicely and still leaves lots of room for cargo.
If I ever do away with the crate for the large dog, I will get a safety barrier, but I have never had dogs travel in the back seat area with the seats up in the passenger position. That's one of the reasons I bought an RX and not a more efficient and/or sporty handling car. For me, an upholstery protector is not the only consideration.

Well, our personalized license plate is "K9CR8" so you might guess what our RX is conditioned for. I keep the rear seats split, small side up. This is where dogs enter the car. Double tucked-in towels here. Tarp and several old sheets and towels in remainder of rear. 3, sometimes 4 dogs, 35 to 75 lbs. I would not consider any kind of permanent seat cover, as whatever is back there is going to want cleaning from time to time.....pretty often during the mud seasons.

3 small dogs (15-25lbs). We take them in the back with the seats folded down for a 2 hour drive to the lake every other weekend. They sleep most of the way on an old bed comforter. Occasionally, if I have to slam on the brakes, one of them will end up on the floor between the front and back seats looking at me very indignantly!
