Default aftermarket radio help

ok here it goes i have searched this topic but have not found too much info..... i am looking to buy my wife and rx300 but i would like to install an aftermarket radio with nav.... from what i have found searching the double din will be way too much work... i am looking for a single din so i can put a flip out tv and retain the factory ac controls and just use the factory radio to take up space basically... do they make a din kit that will allow you to mount the radio under the factory radio so nothing has to be relocated? or is there a double din unit that will allow you to control the ac and heat through the head unit... thanks anyhelp would be fine.... trying to do some research before i comit to the rx.

yes you can buy a bezel that removes the ashtray and lighter for a single din.
I found them just this week on this forum and it wasn't too many pages of reading to find it i will update post with the link when i come across them.

Is there a particular reason you want an aftermarket radio? The stock headunit is actually very good.

I was planning on purchasing a non nav rx and I wanted to add a flip out navigation to the truck. Also a tv in the rear for my kid... If it turns out to be too big a project I will prob just add a fold down tv in the back with a dvd player attached and just tell my wife to use the nav on her iphone..

I have seen a neat Ipad bracket for the rear headrest. Perhaps your rear-seat passengers could play video games on the Ipad instead of watching TV. Or watch movies on an Ipad.

i saw those bezels also.... looks like it will work for what i need it for.... i wish they would of made seperate climate controls and this would be a lot cleaner install instead of having 2 radios after the install of the aftermarket one...

I think you may be best off finding an RX with nav. Or, you could also retrofit a nav.

Get the headrest tv's for the rear, much easier than installing a flip down tv. I believe there is a DIY on here for how to install them.

EDIT: Link for DIY: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...ps-screen.html

just buy a tom tom or navman any other navigator won't come close to your expectations of it.
Add rear head rest lcds with built in dvd and a front dash mount LCD to navigate a media player

Yes it is quite interesting as i can think of further ways of wiring due to the aux input and the usb.
If you ran a second stereo you could add more subs more speakers etc and control both volumes.
Hmmm

I don't think that will work in the RX300. They list model years starting in 2004, which is the RX330. Although other countries did get a 2004 RX300SE I don't think this would work with that either.

You are better off getting a GROM unit.
