Default Latest Cabin Air Filter Photo

This one was in there for about 4.5 years old (about 20K miles for me though).

Bought the replacement on Amazon.

(I'm bumping this old thread, instead of creating a new one)

I'm disappointed in myself, don't how I let my cabin filter get this dirty. Has anyone seen this type of crap in their cabin air filter? It looks' like something came apart. But everything is functioning well, and no noises except for the mode servo which is still working properly.

I changed mine a couple months ago. It was dirty, but not that dirty.

Hypervish - I've seen the same dark gray or charcoal colored foam like material coming out of my vents in my '02 RX300 and come to think of it I have seen in my '02 GS300. Not sure where this exists in the system but I recall it may be used to cushion pieces that connect together. I think I saw this when I was replacing the servo motor on the RX when I was working under the dash. Over the past few years I have noticed little bits and pieces of the same stuff coming out of the vents. However, that doesn't tell you how to remedy the situation just that someone else has seen the same. I haven't seen the stuff in the cabin filter though, just coming out the vents.

Ok, yeah I noticed the same material on the ducting in some places to seal the connection, so you are right about that.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one seeing it in their HVAC system. LOL

I haven't seen it come out of the vents...yet! Look's like my filter caught it all.

Even when I don't change my cabin a/f, I vacuum it and put it back in.

Yeah, I didn't replace this one, been using it for close 2-3 years now. I only vacuumed it, but I think I'm going to order one since this one still seems a bit dirty.
