Default 2001 RX 300 codes p1155 and p1150

I went to Autozone and had these codes pull up on my daughters car. It has 139,000 miles and runs great. The Autozone guy told me that p1155 was Bank 1 Sensor 2 ( under the drivers side seat between the Cat and the Muffler ) I just wanna verify that is true. Also the p1150 code from autozone shows coolant path clog up for coolant heat storage but everything I read here states different. Can someone please verify these codes because I am going to try to fix it myself !

Thanks in Advance
Greg in Nashville Tenn.

Welcome to Club Lexus!

Can one of the moderators move this over to the First-Gen Section?

The P1150 is for Bank 2 Sensor 1. Which is the A/F sensor by the radiator. Purchase a Denso 234-9009 from Amazon, and have it installed by your mechanic or go ahead and DIY it, as it is very simple.

Start at post #44 for Bank 2 Sensor 1 removal: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...-sensor-3.html

EDIT: I believe P1155 is also for Bank 2 Sensor 1, so that code should also go away when you replace the sensor.

You're welcome.

There isn't a video for the RX300, but there are videos of others doing it on their cars. Here's one of ScottyKilmer, he makes DIY videos on automotive repair.

I think you just learned you can't put a lot of trust in what they tell you at Autozone!

Well , I went to Autozone and got the rental socket to take off the air/fuel sensor and to my dismay the sensor is apparently screwed in and since it gets so hot there it is freaking welded to the threads. I tried for about 30 minutes and ended up messing up the edges of the bolt and still couldnt loosen even after a can of PB breaker to loosen. So off to the shop tomorrow to get it drilled out. The guy at the shop said that it is notorious for almost welding this sensor to the threads due to the massive amount of heat at that point he said he sees this all the time. Hoepfully I can get out of this for under $150 The socket from Autozone was ok but the sensor was bonded to the threads that when I torqued it the split socket opened up even more and slipped off the sensor and messed up the edges of the nut . Well just wanted to let you know how excited I was to do this work until his happened now I am off to the shop !

Hey brokerin, I had the same coolant blockage code and my mechanic said its most likely the thermostat. Getting that fixed now. Hope that was useful

Hope he replaces the A/F sensor instead of the thermostat. What code did you get?

The p1150 and 1155 codes are the A/F sensor on the manifold near the radiator. I tried like hell to get mine out but had seized up from the massive amount of heat and had to take it to the shop. Shop guy was cool and said he replaced about a million of them in his career and 20 minutes later it was done and cleared the codes and it was all good. everything is working very well now best 80 bucks I spent to get it fixed the right way because I already bought the part off amazon.

Default Just loosened up the A/F Sensor

Codes p1150, p0171. Changed the rear sensor 2 months ago. That sensor works perfectly. Guess what the front one is Check Engining now. 179500 mikes.

Wanted to loosen before I purchased the sensor. Used PB Blaster overnight. Still could not budge. Tried 7/8 open end wrench and tapping with a hammer, lo and behold loosened nicely. Could not tell if the blaster helped.

Now I have to order the part from Amazon.

Thanks for the info guys!

I got error code P1155 on my Lexus RX-300. I have read in the forum that is the sensor near the engine and not the sensor before the muffler. can someone give the correct answer and the part number?

That is for Bank 2 Sensor 1. The Air Fuel sensor closest to the radiator. Denso part # 234-9009

I have had luck twice with Advance Auto price matching Amazon. You have to pay tax, but if you want the part quick it's worth it.
