Default can the rx300 handle a turbo?

I'm thinking about getting a turbo for my rx300 in a few months and i was wondering if it can hadle it. I know little to no people have done this to a rx300...only crazy people would..i guess i am crazy lol.

I know I would have to make my own manifold and down pipe and most likely bend my own pipes and make the intercooler fit ect. but my main concern is the transmission and differential because its not ment to handle that kind of power?

Anyone with knowlege about this please respond....Thanks

I'd be worried about the transmission, aside from that the 1MZ-FE motor can handle it.

I believe Lexmex at one point wanted a supercharger but I don't think he was able to find out that fit the RX300.

I still haven't ruled this out, but a complete lack of funds and time has affected me doing any more. Only thing I do have in the pipeline is an updated ram air system, but also am waiting until the start of next year to even entertain this option (once the election is sorted out).

However, one thing I think is a must (and I did about as good a job as I could in Mexico) was to strengthen the transmission to handle the load, took me about a $1000 bucks to do. You can find instances of the turbo on a 1MZFE over on the Solaraguy forum. There was also a guy, Tony the Tiger, who did it on a 94 Camry.

I have heard of instances over the years in other countries of a turbo being put on a 3.0 RX300 or Toyota Harrier (there was a 2.2 and a 2.4 L engine in other countries), but I can't recall the photos.

These were photos of a twin turbo configuration and also a supercharger.

Trans would need to be upgraded with the beefier carrier parts etc (at the very least). to handle any additional horse power like that.

What makes you think there isn't much life left in it?

That's not even close to true. Take a look at the high mileage RX thread, there are many people still on their original transmission, some with over 300k miles, some with over 200k miles, and many with over 100k miles.

With proper maintenance, i.e. 15k mile interval drain and fills for the transmission and it will more than likely last for a very long time, as proven by many individuals.

Turbos and gears for an RX300?

When you cross the line with bench racing mods cost more than the car is worth, someone needs to call ricer/troll.
